Date Idea Box

Saturday, July 20, 2013

J (my hubby) and I have been together since Jan. 2007 and in the beginning, it was easy to come up with date ideas. But now that we're married and have a 7 month old, it's getting harder to come up with date ideas that aren't boring or that don't cost a lot of money.

So... I've been thinking of a way to keep all the date ideas I find on the internet and my own ideas together in one place and even separated into different categories.

I came up with....our date idea box!!

I used:
- a 3x5 index card holder (found at Kmart)
- pack of 3x5 index cards
- scrapbook paper
- alphabet stickers

1. Find Date Ideas. I searched the internet and found some really great ideas and came up with a few of my own.

A few of my favorites are:

Love, Actually Blog and The Dating Divas.

2. Come up with categories.

My categories are:
- Restaurants - $$
- Restaurants - $$$
- Holiday/ Seasonal (go Christmas light looking)
- Themed Nights (Chinese, Italian, etc.)
- Dinner Dates (Progressive Dinner, new recipe night, etc.)
-Requires Planning (Carriage Ride, dinner cruise, etc.)
- Free: Home (make a time capsule, vacation planning date, etc.)
- Free: away from home (outdoor picnic, go to the beach, etc. )
- Projects/ DIYs (redecorate a room, Pinterest project)
- Cheap: Home (rent a movie, etc. )
- Cheap: away from home (tour a museum, go to a candy store or ice cream parlor, etc.)
- Tourist attractions (go to the zoo, go to the lighthouse in St. Augustine, etc.)
- Sporty ( play putt-putt, batting cages, etc. )

3. Write your date ideas on 3x5 index cards. If one of your date ideas is to go to a certain restaurant or museum, put down the address and ticket prices on the back.

4. Take your scrapbook paper and cut out cards bigger than a 3x5, but small enough to put in your box. These are going to be your category cards.

5. Categorize your date ideas accordingly.

6. Enjoy =)

*Pictures will be up soon!
