Christmas on the Way {Part 1}

Tuesday, October 15, 2013

Christmas is my absolute favorite time of the year! Once Thanksgiving is over, the whirlwind of Christmas fun begins. For us, this year is Weston's very 1st Christmas plus it's also his 1st birthday (12/26), and if that's not enough, his 1st birthday party (12/28)!! AGH!!!

Anyways, since this is Weston's 1st Christmas, we (my husband) wants to go ALL out! From a decked out Christmas tree to a Christmas-themed blow-up in the front yard. I want to go ALL out on the tradition and memory side of Christmas.

Since this is our 1st Christmas as a family of 3 and with a child, we don't have any traditions. So here's a list I've compiled of some I want to do.

1. 25 Days of Christmas beginning Dec. 1 to Dec. 25. Activities include: baking cookies, reading the Christmas story, making a Christmas ornament, etc.
2. Participate in Angel Tree or Operation Christmas Child
3. Watch some classic Christmas movies and enjoy Christmas treats
 - How The Grinch Stole Christmas
 - A Charlie Brown Christmas
 - The Nativity Story
4. Get family pictures taken.
5. Go out for dinner then go Christmas light looking.
6. Go to the Christmas parade.
7. Decorate a gingerbread house.
8. Make and send a Christmas card to a soldier.
9. Decorate the Christmas tree together as a family while drinking hot chocolate {or apple cider} and listening to Christmas music.
10. See the Christmas play at Church
11. Weston gets to open one gift on Christmas eve - new pajamas and a Christmas story book.
12. Have a Christmas party for close family and friends.
13. Bake a birthday cake for Jesus.
14. Read the Christmas Story from Luke on Christmas Eve or in the morning before opening gifts.
15. Make a special Christmas breakfast that's the same every year. I want Weston to say, "It's not Christmas until we've had this for breakfast."
16. Give a family gift to yourselves.
17. Go Christmas caroling with the church.
18. A new family ornament and a new ornament for Weston
19. Go on a Christmas light scavanger hunt.
20. Leave cookies for Santa.
21. Take a picture with Santa.

We sure are going to be making a lot of memories this year and taking lots of pictures! If you want to follow along, follow me on instagram at @k_best11.

We're also going to be one crafty family this year as well. Check back for "Christmas on the Way {Part 2}", and I'll be showing some of my craft inspirations.
